Basement and garage ranges can be fun. Back when my son was 10 or 11 we set one up in the basement. I used my 44MagĀ where I had 60 primed cases and a block of colored gulf wax. With eye and ear protection we would soot the wax bullets across the room to our target. It was accurate as lead at 20 feet and could make some nice wax creative art. It was a cheap way to teach gun safety without leaving the house. My son didn't get to shoot real ammo in the 44 until he was 16. One shot and he had enough. It was a sub magnum load but it did pack a punch. He tried it again when he was 20 and managed to shoot the entire cylinder. He said it was too much for a pistol.
