So over thanksgiving I did a number of lighting mods one of them being the under hood light installed from a explorer or earlier rangers/broncos. I like using oem parts, some may prefer to use led strip lights on a switch, but my moto has always been "OEM is best." So I got a explorer underhood light that is a simple power and ground setup, with a mercury switch. 1. Not a necessary step but I took the electrical tape off and re taped it to make it look nice. 2. I installed a led bulb instead of the normal incandescent bulb. 3. I have removed the engine blanket from the hood so finding the provided mounting point on the hood was easy. Others may have to remove the blanket and cut a hole to fit the light in the correct place. There are factory holes to use. 4. I oriented the light so it functioned properly. 5. I ran the wire through the inside of the hood Just looked a little cleaner. 6. I ran the power to the fuse block, where the pain power wire (pretty large and two pronged) that bolts to the fuse block. I lossened one of the nuts (dosnt matter which one)and used a O shaped terminal connector to hook around the stud and I tightened the nut back down. 7. I ran the ground to a factory ground to the right of the fuse block (you will see it. 8. Reconnect the battery and test. 9. Let there be light!
