all right I am running a few days behind around here but need to get these updates in so they don't stack up The rear axle should be ready for me today or tomorrow! Driveshafts are mostly built, finishing touches on them today Exhaust is sorted out but I need to bend up two pipes, Oreilly should have a 10' stick of 2.5" exhaust tubing for me today as well The new Taylor wires are going in, and the engine bay is nearly completed. I have to add some lug terminals on the battery feeds. Interior work should happen before Friday, all in all if all goes well I will be test driving this bad boy Halloween weekend....... So first up the rear axle work, I was provided with a explorer 8.8 31 spline axle housing, new Ford 4.10 ring and pinion, new Eaton limited slip, Yukon master install kit, Heavy duty diff cover, new E brakes, backing plates, new powerstop rear rotors, red calipers, and EBC pads. The axle was dropped off at a local shop to do the carrier setup for us, this is something I want to do in house but I am no expert yet so instead of taking a risk we decided to take it to the pro's. My kid goes to school with the owners of a local trans/diff shop so we are building a good reputation with a local shop! They were happy to help. When the axle comes back from being geared it is my job to set it up to go under the ranger. The explorer shock mounts, sway bar mounts, spring perches have all been shaved from the tubes for me already...sheesh nice to have all this help!! 28 spline axle parts donor ![]() Pull the carrier so we can get the ABS speed sensor tone ring ![]() However we were missing one very important part...so out came an old Ranger 8.8 that had seen better days. I needed to tear the axle down to get to the ABS tone ring, needed for our 8.8 build. While I had the 28 spline axle in the shop I got my plasma cutter out and sourced the ranger shock mounts and spring perches..... now I can finally scrap this old 28 spline 8.8 Wala ![]() ![]() Plasma torch makes life easier. I use a 240V harbor freight Plasma cutter it has been AWESOME ![]() Sneak peak at the driveshaft work, a 2004 F150 5.4 front and rear d shafts are being shortened to fit our Ranger.... this work is done in house. Driveshafts will get new U joints and spin balance before going down the road ![]() ![]() I have done this quite a few times now, getting better with each build Time for the new wires, truck was put back down on the ground for final D shaft measurements and so I can finish up the engine bay ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
