Do you leave wires long like that after the engine is installed to help locate everything if there for some reason is a hiccup later? Or do you just do that for right now to help you out before everything is in?

I do not leave the wires long, they will be tailored to fit the engine bay and run along with the other wire looms.
The extra length there now is just so I know I have enough.

All connections will be cut to length, soldered and heat shrunk, then wrapped.

This is just a "test fit" to show people how the wiring is done
I get ALOT of questions about this wiring, so I am trying to make it as clear as possible :)

Were you able to use the original ranger chassis side harness plug and it plug up to the v8 harness? I'm wondering now if I did mine wrong?
Well the 8 pin ranger plug remains, yes and it plugs into the truck yes.....but there is still some wiring to be done on the AC side of things. Why? Because when I lay the 5.0 harness in here it too has AC wires in the engine harness....so these two systems STILL need to be integrated together.

The other wires like the yellow starter feed is in its final spot...sans shortening
The alternator voltage regulator wires  and battery charging wires are in place, but still need to be wrapped into the 5.0 harness

This is just the preliminary wiring that gets done before the v8 is dropped in
The starter harness, trans cooler lines, and power steering hoses are the important things to have in place when the block is set on its mounts. Otherwise you have to fish them in there which is a PITA, ask me how I know.

I have one set of gaskets coming in today and one set of gaskets being delivered tomorrow....lets see who wins this race Autozone or Amazon.........I am DYING to drop this engine in then you guys will see how fast I am :) while still maintaining 410 quality control
