Time to prep some under hood wiring

First up, the 5.0 starting and battery harness needs a few mods:

Some of the 302 explorers had a oil level sensor in the oil pan.
Our Jasper engine does not have this sensor
So the wires were removed from this harness, 3 small wires....

This harness will provide for our swap:
+positive and - battery terminals (we will be replacing these ones with LUG style connectors)
+ wire to starter from battery
+ wire from battery to PJB (power junction box)
- wire from battery to frame and engine
Yellow starter solenoid trigger wire to starter

All wiring is cleaned and wrapped where needed

Ready to be adapted into truck and laid into place before engine

Next up is the V6 starter and battery harness, this came right out of the 2000 Ranger:

We do not need the battery cables or the alternator wiring....
what we do need is the 8 pin round plug that adapts the starter + feed, ac clutch and ac low pressure switch wires to the truck

Harness was cut apart and the target feeds removed:

Now we have the 8 pin plug which plugs directly into our truck and leaves us with:
Yellow/lb starter relay to starter solenoid feed
AC high pressure switch + and - from dash
AC Clutch control + and - from dash

Harness cleaned and ready to be adapted into the truck

Finally we need to prepare the alternator / charging circuit wires.
The 5.0 alternator to PJB wire is kept, Black / orange
The V6 alternator wires that were removed from the 4.0 engine wires are ready to be grafted into the 5.0 engine harness

Here is everything laid out under the hood in its target location

tomorrow I will install this 5.0 wiring harness to frame bracket, we need to drill a hole or two

Now time to install the power steering high pressure hose and cooler return line
Hoses and fittings cleaned on both sides, some thread sealant is used to prevent seepage even though these are flare fittings
Much easier to install now then after engine is in

You can also see more of the target wire routing
