the v8 mounts bolt directly in place with no mods? Because both trucks were designed from the factory to run the sohc engine they have same bolt pattern on truck side of engine mounts

if you are re using the v6 mounts then you drill one hold in the drivers side 5.0 engine plate
Here's a pic from the 07 build

Hope that helps!

More unpacking of the new parts! More engine bay prep

First up finish detailing the engine bay and re coat the factory battery tray

Yes I will be putting a heat wrap on the heater box here since the factory tin foil piece is in pieces

battery tray cleaned and wire brushed a bit then shot with provided flat black

a few coats later

Some of the goodies sent with the truck, puzzle pieces all laid out

even came with loc tite, paint, amsoil break in fluids, all tune up parts, even teflon tape!!
very refreshing!! Lets do this

First up install new V8 explorer engine mounts

Next the new power steering high pressure line gets installed to the rack

And now I need to prepare/build the v8 starter wiring harness, ac harness and alternator harness, it is easiest to put the starter wiring, the trans cooler lines and power steering hoses in place before the engine drops in
So I need the two alternator voltage regulator wires from the old v6 engine harness:
First I cut the insulation off in a few key spots....then unpin the two wires and pull them through

this is what we are after
'
forceps to remove the red keeper pick to lift up the locking pins and pull wire out

end result

Now I turn my attention to the starter/ac/alternator wiring harness', I need to cut apart the v8 and v6 harness' to make one unit that interfaces with the truck
Here is the v6 harness in question:

and the v8 stuff

More on that wiring later
Time to bring the 306 up front so it can be prepped to drop in, I had to remove the shipping pallet and front accessory brackets.....put engine on a stand and that is how far we got yesterday

because "the zone" totally screwed up my in store order of the exhaust gaskets as in they never ordered them and now they say they are a week out.......so I ordered some from Amazon, some Remflex graphite gaskets..... so frustrating!!

But its really my bad for not having the gaskets here prior to TMH arriving. Its okay plenty I can do while we wait........

Isn't she pretty? YEAH BUDDY!! Battle on
