I never tried to drop the 5.0 in the engine bay with the upper intake on, why would you do that? LOL It might clear? I dunno The 5.0 is a tight fit between the crank balancer and the flexplate, but it fits, the engine hoist has no issue dropping the engine straight down into the cradle after the balancer clears the rad support. I do not see why the upper intake would be in the way, I never tried. Too much plumbing, wiring to do so I just install the upper intake later. Yes the tall bolt in the rear must be in place before you try to set the intake on top of the engine, I just put it in the hole and tape it up so it does not drop down until I have the intake right where I want it. With intake spacer and a sandwich of gaskets it can get interesting, the gt40 intake is not exactly "light"
