So the 2000 trans is missing the OSS correct?
The OSS is the output shaft speed sensor it was added to the back of the 5r55e in 2001

The OSS is needed for a few things on your truck............... but you can wire up the dakota digital to take its place.
You will want to use the rear axle mounted VSS signal as the speed input to the dakota box and then send the corrected signal out to take place of the missing OSS

So first off tell us about your truck!!

Have you seen the "How to wire dakota digital yadda yadda yadda" thread already?
In that thread I used the signal from the rear axle vss to send a corrected speed sensor signal to the engines computer, instrument cluster and cruise control.
You will want to use the VSS to mimic the missing OSS sensor which is used primarily by the engines computer to control shifting....
The engine/transmission computer (PCM or powertrain control module) uses signals from the TSS, ISS and OSS (input shaft and output shaft) to monitor the gear changes and torque converter slip as it controls the transmission. Without an OSS your 01 computer is not happy.
What you need to do is take the signal from the sensor you do have, the VSS in the rear axle, and convert it to look like a OSS signal......
We have some research to do.....I have a phone call to make

Exits room to secret bat cave phone..................
