Tony, the Walther is a P22... 22LR. I shot some CCI MiniMag standard velocity lead round nose and some Winchester SuperX HyperVelocity CU plated HP, both 40 grain. Last time at the range, I got failure to feed, failure to eject and failure to fire (due to the safety somehow getting enabled). I brought it home and field stripped it and hosed it out with WD-40, then blew it out with the air compressor. I lubed it with some spray lithium and worked the action a bunch of times. You mentioned the recoil spring and that brought something to mind. Back some time ago, I bought a captive recoil sprint with stainless steel guide rod. That may be the issue. I will try it again with the original non-captive guide rod and recoil spring and see if that fixes the issue. If ammo was plentiful as it was 9 months ago, I would buy a box of the hottest 22LR I could find and try that, however that isn't the case. I never used to have issue with the slide locking, so your thoughts on the recoil spring may just be the problem. Gonna find out!
I had a P22, and it was a piece of trash, I got a P22q, and I love that gun. Night and day difference between the two.
