I have never seen a 'chip' that will do anything other than lighten your wallet. If you want to buy a tuner, and have an experienced tuner provide tunes, you can find gains there. On an OBD1 vehicle, it would take some research. Tuners like the SCT work well, but they are OBD2 compatible.
