looking into this it seems very very possible, especially since you have the entire donor truck The bellhousing is different of course, some hoses and plumbing is different, otherwise the 4.6L drivetrain should literally bolt in....... Most people will say "sell it and buy a 4.6L truck its easier and cheaper" well thats the same thing I heard back in 1996 when I wanted to rip out my 2.9L and replace with a 4.0....... Listen it comes down to this, those trucks left the factory with a 4.0 sohc or a 4.6L DOHC v8........... so either engine/trans combo can be bolted in. having the ENTIRE donor is the KEY to saving headaches and money
