I don't mean nut rivets but proper, solid, ship type rivets. I clamp the parts together (you can use nut & bolt through a spare hole to start) then hold a heavy dolly on the head side of the rivet and hit the other side with a big hammer to set it (swell it into the holes) and then peen the end over. You can buy setting punches that have a hollowed out end to reproduce the domed end if you want.
