No I did not check the actual torque. I did think it was a little easy to break them loose. I used a breaker bar, untorqued them in sequence and in steps to keep the heads as straight as I could.

I have examined the gasket with a magnifier and it looks like it was damaged, the ridge doesn't look like it was eroded from flow. This might have been like this longer than I knew of. I replaced the radiator and the cap after I had a tank side split. Was probably from pressure from the cylinder. I figured there was something up when that happened. Plus for a year prior every once in a while after getting off the highway at the first idle situation it would sometimes start missing.

Might have been installer error but just in case I'm not getting FelPro gaskets. I'll go with the next best.
