Its exactly like JAMMAN said, both sides think they're right and in a way they are. It really comes down to each personal experience with warranties. You'll always have people on both sides. The question really has no definitive answer on a “do it yourself†or “have the shop do it†because there IS two sides to this coin. It really comes down to - can he afford the dealer install? Do you trust the dealer? If not, does he feel comfortable enough working on it?
