I can't fault you logic in that when any extra benefits run out, a LOT of people will be looking. And there is something to be said for working. I honestly have no idea how anybody has done it and stayed sane. As background, we never stopped working due to defense work, and my wife has been working from home. My son and his wife are essential same with my sister. We fared well luckily. Meanwhile my next door neighbor has his daughter at home, his wife, his son and his wife are in the camper in the driveway, two grandkids, three dogs and a cat. People everywhere are doing what they can to get by. More power to them! The old adage about it being easier to find a job when you have a job can be true. You do tend to feel less pressure to accept bad positions when you are employed I think. Plus getting on a decent company, there is always the chance to move us in that company as skills are recognized. The cut in pay can be harsh. I dropped $2.50 an hour when I went where I am. But the other place was circling the white porcelain fixture rapidly. An actual interesting story and experience there... As for the unemployment insurance, Don't feel bad. The base unemployment does not come out taxpayer funds at all, that comes from companies paying in specifically for that. Well, the extra benefits, those did come from China, but then everybody got that didn't they? Oh yeah, one more benefit I got for taking the new job, health insurance. The old place just stopped paying for it, but didn't tell us for months...
