I had to go pick up a birthday cake for a friend yesterday. The bakery is doing their social distancing and only letting 3 customers in the shop so there is a 10+ person line in the parking lot when it re-opened from its lunch break. I pulled in at the end of their line. A few minutes later a new Ford Ranger parked next to mine. I was making mental comparisons when the new Ranger owner made the comment that we had about the same bedspace and asked me how hard it was to install the ladder rack. (They were on because I pulled out the kayak a few days back and hadn't bothered to take them off.) We got into the hauling aspect of our trucks and their limited capabilities. He admitted he traded his 08 Ranger to have more passenger space as his kids had outgrown the backseat of the 08 Ranger. Otherwise he was pleased as he had a lot more power than his 08 4 cylinder but the limited bed space had him thinking about a rack or trailer. Other observations: Huge tires compared to mine, it sat very high with a high down tailgate position.
