Well. The brakes are done on the 8.8 Explorer axle. :D
I will say, I have never been so excited to be able to STOP!
I can lock up all 4 tires now. No issue.

Went offroading for the first time on Saturday with the new 5.13 gears.
HOLY COW. I can climb some of the super steep hills, barely any throttle, and make it through sugar sand like an absolute boss.

Also, it is confirmed. Both tires do spin. Had to dump the clutch through super soft and lose sand, and I threw 25 foot rooster tails behind me. From both spinning tires. Covered my buddy's Dakota.

Went to mount up the James Duff traction bars... They don't work with the new u-bolts for the 8.8 31 spline. So I am going to get a set of mounts made from my buddies CNC shop. I will update when I get them mounted. :-)

The brake thing sounds good,I have to do the same thing !

When spinning your tire... if on soft stuff, both tire may spin, if on a harder material one may only spin.Did you do Locker of some type ?

Also, it is your truck so tell me to STFU... when spinning your tires in sand, the sand gets in to places it should nt be, I think you know... more wear on parts.

The Duff Traction Bars, you do have an Exploder 8.8 right ?   I have always thought the Exploder 8.8 had the narrow ends ... ?
Are the Traction Bars made for a 31 spline axle ?

I had to make plates for mine because of the larger tube,31 splines, but I purchased my traction bars originally for a 28 spline 8.8.

Good Luck on the mods, looking good !

The axle I have is Limited Slip. Some Explorers came with them. I was lucky to have one under my donor truck. I spun the pinion when I had it out. Explorer 8.8 is a 31 spline. I had ordered the bars for just a 98-11 Ranger. But the flip kit I used isn't factory hardware, it was made by RuffStuff so it is a lot beefier than the OEM ones. Hence why the brackets did not work.

I have lived in sand all my life. So I know the affects. Florida is known for sugar sand.
