did water get inside the trans that sat outside? Dipstick hole was open to atmosphere? Engine sounds nice! Probably doesnt need anything. When I converted to 5.0 back in 2005 I did not do anything to the engine either, no gaskets, no seals, just plugs and some tune up parts....... still runs great! It leaks a little oil from the rear main, a little oily around the pan gasket now, otherwise still going perfectly well 15 years later. The engine had 72K miles on it when I got it and had been on a pallet shipped from CO to CA it sat ona pallet for about a year..... The point? These 5.0 are tough! The reason you go 5.0 is you don't HAVE TO DO ANYTHING to the engine, just get it in there and running....deal with the rest later!! Melling makes a high volume pump for the explorer pan? $52 for high volume version on RA. What were you trying to stick in there? LMFAO Just fyi the stock explorer oil pump IS high volume (compared to stock 5.0 of the past)
