Before I put it in the vehicle it was in I put a timing chain, fresh gaskets except for head, tried to put a melling oil pump in it and it wouldn't fit... about a half inch too tall for either oil pan. I put the original back in it. Put a stamped steel oil pan, had checked cam and lifters for wear. Valve cover gaskets, rear main seal front main seal. I drove this thing from cleveland all the way down to Grove City, and the previous owner drove it from mid eastern Michigan to Cleveland to meet me. No strange smells, no overheating, no drops in oil pressure, it was powerful and responsive and quite quick actually I almost wanted to fix it up and drive it. That's why I'm sick about having to buy another transmission, it had a perfectly good one in it but I thought I was doing a 2wd so I let it get flooded. Wasted money as usual. I have no reason to believe there was anything wrong with the motor at all. I would love to tear it apart and put some things on it but since it works(ed) and the goal is daily driver AND I'm doing this at home in my garage AND I'm not rich... I just want to do it at all LOL.
