you can pull your old v6 and trans together You should plan to install the 5.0 without the upper intake and then stab the trans to it You would only need a torch to get any rusted exhaust bolts that wont free, should not be a problem since you can just cut the v6 stuff and pull the v6 engine and trans together. Remember the 96+ explorer came with a 5.0 factory, your 03 Ranger is identical as far as the engine bay is concerned, so the drivetrain will bolt in just like if you were at the Ford factory.....no cutting and torching of radiator supports or frame rails needed for this one. :) Everything basically BOLTS IN The difference between a 97 Explorer and 03 Ranger the explorer frame rails stay wide behind the front seats, because the leaf springs are under the frame rails and the leafs go under the axle The ranger frame rails get narrow because the leaf springs are outboard the frame rails and go on top of the axle Otherwise all is "same, same" (Miagi voice) So as far as putting a 5.0 into a ranger is concerned the only real changes are to the exhaust after the B pillar and the rear driveshaft, after the B pillar.......otherwise 5.0 conversion bolts in like it should have been there from the factory. Its the wiring and little bit of plumbing know how that make the v8 a conversion......
