I got 3/4 the way through a front brake job, the 5% rain forecast turned into a 100% downpour. The noise was the passenger inner pad that lost the leading half of the pad. There was about 3/8" left on the back half which was about what was on the other 3 pads. I took the rotors in to be turned and there was too much damage to save the rotor. I have new Bosch pads from Rock Auto - the spring clips supplied do not fit a Ranger so I cleaned and reused the old ones. New O'Rieley brand Chinese rotors, bearings, bearing seal, and 2 cans of brake cleaner to the tune of $180. The rotors are finished nicer than the Power Stop package I put on 35k ago. We will see. I got the passenger side complete and the rotor buttoned up on the driver side when the rain came. I will finish it tomorrow when it is dry and cooler.
