The spare block is a 1996, I'll wait till this motor is plenty worn to start a build on it. Probably get a cheaper set of aluminum heads for it as well.

OK on the aluminums heads, two things, first...nothing makes the Ford Small Block Come alive more than a good set of aftermarket heads, second Cast Iron Heads will make more HP for the street than aluminum heads; just something to think on.
There are some great aftermarket Cast Iron Performance Head out there, when the time comes check them out too !

Out of curiosity what's your reasoning on iron heads on the street vs aluminum heads?
I don't have any data to back up what I have stated, also, I am referencing Aftermarket Heads not FORD Cast-Iron Heads.
I've read articles about it and watch a number of programs on the TV about Performance Heads, and there was one article in a Truck Magazine, it showed that the Cast-Iron Heads made more HP at lower rpm levels... once you get up in the rpm range, the aluminum he'd flow better.
TrickFlow makes a Street Performance Head that almost equals the Cast-Iron Head at lower rpm's.
I will find out when I do my LAST engine swap, because I have the TrickFlow Street Heads on my latest build... time will tell. If I did it again, I might have gone Cast-Iron.
YOU need to do it your way, I am just suggesting to look into different avenues before laying down the cash. Also Head designs have come a long way, so who am I to even say anything.
Good Luck on this and the next build.

Well it definitely gives me plenty to think about! Truth be told I'm fine with either or on a mild street build. Now my foxbody is a different story, dart block, full forged rotating assembly, all good for 1200hp. Oh I mention I got a twin turbo kit for it hehehehe.
