I worked 3 hours today and then spent the rest of the afternoon in the gun room. It had been a while since I took my loading press apart and cleaned it. That is about an hour job but I took some of the rough aluminum pieces to the workshop and polished them on the buffing wheel. My primer feed was a bit gummy so the cleaning came just in time. After I had it cleaned up I set it up for 9mm where I pressed out about 300 rounds of plated 124gr Round Nose bullets that should travel about 1100fps. Of those I pressed out I loaded up 103 (all the magazine space I have) of the 9mm and I have 7 magazines of 45GAP that I need to test on my next range day. For the past year I have just grabbed the first thing available ammo wise when I was headed towards the range. I only shoot the 45GAP when I am sure I can recover all of my brass. I only get to shoot it about every other time I go. The 357 is easy to maintain control of the spent brass. For 9mm it doesn't really matter. I have 4 gallons of cleaned and sorted 9mm brass. About 2/3rd's of it is quality brass and the other third can be reloaded two or three times before it starts giving me problems. I keep about 100 rounds of this less desirable ammo in case I run into a Brass Hound at the range. A Brass Hound is somebody that sweeps up their brass and any other brass they can get their hands on. They can be a nuisance if you are shooting hard to find calibers like 45GAP, 10mm, or 357Sig. Now I am just waiting for the ideal range day. Edit was for a space between paragraphs - I though that was fixed.
