My info says that
PIN 17                                                               should be same on explorer and ranger side (even if they change colors from 96-2002)
PIN 18 (circuit 359 SSR (sensor signal return))     should be same on explorer and ranger side
Pin 24 (circuit 329 NSS (neutral safety sensor)     Should be the same
Pin 28 Air suspension signal in to pcm                  Should be missing on the ranger side and stays that way (No air susp on ranger)

Pin 33 NSS circuit from PCM to GEM                     Should be missing on the explorer side of things? A 96 might have this wire. This wire is the NSS sensor feed to the Gem module from the DTRS on the trasmission for the trucks 4x4 shift circuit. Most 5.0 trucks do not have this wire and I usually have to add it if you are doing a electronic shift 4x4 t case

Pin 36                                                                Should be the same on the explorer side and the ranger side

Pin 37 - AC high pressure switch wire                   You will have to wire this one up if you plan to use AC with your new 5.0. In the 5.0 trucks the AC high pressure switch is wired through the alternator/starter wiring because the AC high pressure switch is right behind the drivers headlight. On the V6 trucks the ac high switch is mounted right on the AC lines at the compressor.  So you need to re locate it on your truck
The way the AC system works is a little funky Ranger to Explorer....but we can get into that later. The AC low and HIGH pressure switches are really simple to wire up however you decide to do it. Basically it goes like this ground (BK/YE)----------------low pressure switch (reD/YE)---------------------------high pressure switch-----------------------to ground side of compressor clutch
The positive feed to the compressor clutch comes directly from the AC relay in the power dist box.. The dash should control the AC relay, some rangers the PCM does. So we may have to move one wire.....but we can do this AFTER its running.

Pin 39 PCM output to Canister purge valve             Should be same on explorer and ranger side

Now you need to verify this in your book!
I need to get some more books, I need 2000 Ranger, 2002 Ranger and 2005 Ranger.....until I get these you will have to sort a bunch of these out! Just go one at a time and know I can usually help best I can......
