 If population density is part of the problem, how come India, mexico, and a lot of the neighboring countries to china have so few cases and deaths. India has less than 1k cases and only 20 deaths. 

Add up the asian countries surrounding China like, assuming  factors like dense population, close proximity and travelers to china and it doesn't make much sense.
