strip the 4.0 down to the lower intake, remove the fan, radiator, and both accessory brackets, hoses, lines, and wires Work your way around the engine and make sure nothing is still attached to it, fuel line, ground strap, power steering hoses, etc drain all fluids Remove the 4 nuts holding the engine down Then put the truck up as HIGH AS YOU CAN GET IT The more space you have underneath the easier it is to work remove the trans pan and let it drain, when its mostly drained put the pan back on Drain the t case remove the front and rear d shafts Remove/cut the Y pipe out of the way Cut the exhaust or unbolt it Put a jack under the t case and remove the transmission mount and entire transmission crossmember Now let the t case hang down With the x member removed you can now easily get the 5 transfer case bolts drop t case with transmission hanging there remove the starter and trans lines, remove shift cable and trans wiring Now you are ready to pull the engine and trans together Takes about 4-5 hours working by myself NO torch! He is planning to re use the truck LOL Are you planning to keep the old 4.0 and trans or sell or? If its junk then you can save alot of time by cutting some things like the heater hoses, fuel line, etc but cut them on the engine side........ YOu want to keep the engine around to pick parts off of until your conversion is DONE ....trust me on this
