Those hinges with the built in/on supports are for a fairly lightweight aluminum hood and the later Ranger FRP hood is way to heavy for the supports.

If the supports were replaced with stronger ones to better take on the added weight, I'd fear the structure of the hinges and hood may not survive.

Perhaps a DIY effort to add supports further forward on the hood? There was a kit on the market some years ago but I've not seen one advertised in quite a while.


Those struts are usual available with different load ratings for weight and despite if there was a failure you'd just be at a temporary sq 1 again until remedied. The redline tuning kits are nice but where they mount is on the fender sides and just when you think that's great, as someone mentioned there right in the way of accessing something at a later time.

I'd be torn on doing either setup as the pros/cons seem to wash one another from set to set.
