Not sure the Explorer hinges will help all that much. Those hinges with the built in/on supports are for a fairly lightweight aluminum hood and the later Ranger FRP hood is way to heavy for the supports. If the supports were replaced with stronger ones to better take on the added weight, I'd fear the structure of the hinges and hood may not survive. Perhaps a DIY effort to add supports further forward on the hood? There was a kit on the market some years ago but I've not seen one advertised in quite a while.
