I have Ford's limited slip. It works too well. I am always chirping a tire going around a corner or it braking free when the roads are wet because I had only traction with one tire. An 8.8 or 7.5 LS swap would probably be the least expensive route. That said if I didn't have a LS I would put a Eaton Detroit Truetrac in the rear end. I will not have a truck without a LS 3rd member. I had a 78 F-100 Ranger 4x4 that had open diff's front and rear. It would get stuck going down a dirt road. I put the Detroit locker in the rear and a spool up front and it became unstoppable. With both wheels turning a truck will handle differently than an open diff truck.
