Hello from minutes north of Seattle washington.

In my opinion the run on toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and bleach is just collective madness. I hope they feel safe. Lol.

The impact on the economy is in question but empty storeshelves is evidence to me that people are still spending money. I think we will be fine.

In my household I am not the one who shops at grocery stores. I dont like being around people who dont respect others time. If I do visit the grocery store I go directly to what I need an get out. I do my houshold shopping for consumables and hygiene products in bulk online delivered to my door every other year. I'm not what most people consider a prepper but in this case I guess I am prepared.

Today i needed dry cat food and the furballs will turn their nose up if it's not somewhat fresh so I cant buy it in bulk. So out of curiosity I when to the grocery store instead of the pet store. People were calm. I saw the toilet paper shelf was empty. I did see some people were buying paper towels as a substitute. I think I missed the chaos

As a native born washingtonian and a close neighbor to seattle here is my perspective, this will diminish in the spring and those who hoarded will feel foolish afterwards.

A very positive side effect from this, the rush hour traffic that Seattle is known for is gone. If universities and tech giants can make that big of an impact on our regional traffic, then they should continue. For the last 2 weeks I've been able to do the 60mph speed limit on the freeway from my entrance the entire way and take the last exit closest to my shop. Prior to this I'd have gotten on a few entrances south and had to exit a couple exits early and take backroads, and the highest speed I'd see was 35mph on the back roads. To and from work would take 45min to an hour plus. Now it's back to 18-20min. Everybody in the Seattle area gets at least an hour of their life back daily to do whatever. That's incredible...

It has also confined people in close quarters and started conversations that ultimately have given a lot of us a lot to think about going forward...

Contrary to popular belief, not everyone near seattle is a hippy liberal. Stay away from my guns!!! pew pew
