With a cross-draw holster you can draw the gun while in a seated position much easier.

I have a cross draw rig for my SA 44mag. The main use of the 44 has become a hunting backup. With the cross-draw holster the 44 does not get in the way of my hunting knife on my right hip or get in the way of the my right side aiming with my rifle.
