Guitar string? Top E like .008 you can get them down to .007 I have .009/.01 laying around. Very handy. I have seen windshields removed with them, never tried a mirror.

I have bought 2 aftermarket mirrors, one for a Ranger and one for a dodge. Both of them shook like crazy while driving I never thought just replace the mirror element. I would try guitar string, 2 vise grips and a heat gun.
