Notching the box will may let you mount the box within the given space of the Console/back panel but keep in mind, you will need room for the speaker protection screen too.
I actually didn't think of that until the guy in the shop I am going to said something to me about it.
You want a clear space between the Speaker Screen and the end of the console by a couple of inches.
Everyone and Every Install is different !
I hope you get it cut and installed.
