5.0 conversions range from $1500-15000 no kidding Every build is different much of the cost depends on your goals, what you do to the engine and transmission I have done several 4.0 and 5.0 conversions The question How much does it cost? has no real answer BUT it can be done for the cost of the donor + parts Donor explorer can be had for $400-2500 depending on miles Parts to put explorer 5.0 into 97 TTB truck you need dual sump oil pan, oil filter re location kit, custom radiator and/or mounting, custom engine mounts (or reworked factory parts). You will want to run a real transfer case not the explorer AWD unit. After this its plumbing, wiring, exhaust and driveline work The cost depends on what parts you choose and how much of the work you can do yourself Can always Bring me your 97 and Ill do it! I'm usually $5K or so for basic drop it in get it running conversion TOTAL including donor drivetrain and fluids/filters/tune up. I have done it for less and I have done it for 5 times that....it all depends Research is key. I researched the 5.0 swap for years before I did mine in 2005 FYI since I went 5.0 in 2005 I have not had to do anything to the engine or transmission....just drive it. The 302 doesnt care if its -30 degrees outside or 130 outside, just starts and runs same every time. V8 Bronco II is the most fun. Go 5.0 and never look back
