I have a long weekend as I had today and Monday off. I spent some quality time with the 357 and 45GAPĀ at the range today. I was the only person there for the first hour and the RO's let me do some holster drills and quick fire mag replacement drillsĀ (big no-no at this range). The GAP ran flawlessly with the SD ammo as I burnt off 10 10-round mags. It choked on 20% of my coated SWC target ammo for the 4 mags that I shot. It was either a burr on the lip of the case or defect on lip of the grease grove that prevented it from going into battery. That last batch of SWC bullets needs a tighter crimp when I load them back up and a bit more scrutiny on the cases during case prep. I dialed in a 38+P 158gr heavy plated HP bullets. It is at the top end of the spectrum for 38 and is a soft load for the S&W 357Mag. In a supported stance I had just over a 2" pattern with 6 shots. Unsupported two hand grip it was a 5" pattern. In DA, one handed, I can hit the silhouette. In all honesty in DA two handed I am not much better. I am used to a 3 to 5 lb trigger pull and the 9-10 lb DA pull just throws me off.
