All right we finally got her up on the lift and installed the new re worked valve body, new filter, 13.5 quarts of STP mercon V (system only holds 13-14 quarts so it looks like we got it ALL)
I chose to bypass the radiator fluid cooler and run dual trans coolers instead...it will be interesting to watch transmission temps with this setup, my research says it will cool just fine this way without the risk of the fluid/fluid cooler contaminating our fresh trans.
Was only able to do a short road test, but she shifts smoothly and is very responsive. We have a slight exhaust leak at the down pipe, so before we go tearing down two miles of snow/slush road so we can road test on the highway I wanted to fix the leak. Looking forward to finding out if shes good up to 75 mph!!
So far she feels awesome!
Maybe now Brett will send me an invoice for the VB work

Valve body is installed with 25 bolts, they are torqued in sequence, first to 15 in pounds then finally to 95 inch pounds
Our VB here is using the 98+ style solenoids even though our PCM is a 97, the wiring was re worked to match the 98+ internal trans wiring harness

old setup, had to cut, remove and flare a metal line so we can plumb dual coolers

final routing:

trimming plastic

dual stock coolers looking like factory install

Running and getting 13.5 quarts of the expensive juice
See our wicked cool trans fill funnel? It actually has a nipple that sits directly in the 5.0 top plate...like it was made for filling 4r70w in a 5.0 truck!
