Yes do the J mod
How far do you want to go into this transmission? There are MANY upgrades you can do to a 96 4r70w
I looked at my truck yesterday you do indeed have the TPS in the correct position, the wires point down when installed on the intake elbow, same as the vacuum port right behind them
I only want to drop the pan on this trans and do the j mod. I heard something about a ring that gets tossed off at high rpms, I'll probably get the tuner to set the shift points around 5500 rpms to get the most of out of the E cam. Is there any other parts that “fail†that I should check into? Hopefully no big surprises to be found in the pan area.
I'll have to go check the throttle body to see if I got it backwards or not
