I might try it later on, on my old doors just to see what happens.

That said, with the uncertainty that holds, the best route for this project (considering the knowledge I do or don't have) is to retrofit features into known mirrors, with full details and photos.

I firmly believe that method is more accessible to everyone. That way, someone who wants those features in their mirrors could obtain the same thing.
Not to mention, there's less at stake. If I screw up a pair of mirrors, it's not huge. Doors on the other hand is another matter.
