Like Eddie Money said, a little grease to mark the  mounting spots to be drilled. Once drilled flat washers on the backside with the nuts. File down any protruding plastic edges to make it fit. As long as the drilled out holes do not affect the original mounting holes you can always go back.

You got skills you don't even know about. Go for it.
