Small amount of progress. The rest of my parts came in, all except for a bottle of friction modifier. Took off the driver's side door, and I'll be leaving it off for the time being. That will make things easier to wire in those power options. I fiddled around with my manual 06 mirrors, and unfortunately didn't learn too much. The glass just pops out, not even glued in. Unfortunately I could not figure out how to get the main body off the triangle mount. So, if those expo mirrors don't fit, I guess it's game over. Unless I buy heated glass and add the puddles myself. We'll see what happens. If the heated mirrors work out, I'll wire them up using the factory switch and run my own circuit, using a volvo timer relay to shut them off automatically. In the explorer, this same thing is accomplished but with the GEM being the timer. Now, I could try and see if I can use the GEM for a more OEM approach, but the end result is the same with the Volvo relay without much hassle. Trying to tap the GEM here sounds like a good way to over complicate the situation. I'm going to try and get out there Thursday and get a set of mirrors if possible. Tomorrow, I'm going to dive in and start getting stuff wired. I must admit, I'm not looking forward to it. I'm a bit nervous, and the prospect of getting that wiring done is a little overwhelming, but I know I can get it done. Odd how this is making me nervous but not the engine and tranny swap. Weird. It's my goal to have working power windows, mirrors, and locks by Saturday. Not sure if that's realistic or not, but that's the goal.
