okay so thinking about your wiring here it should not be terribly difficult on the engine side of things. The only wire that really needs to do anything on that 42 pin plug should be the alternator feeds? Pin 42 on the 96 explorer engine side is a large black with white wire, That is a ground. On the 02 side of things pin 42 is probably yellow with white? Pin 41 on the truck side should be green/red stripe?
