Since I did not have the $700.00 + dollars the junk yards wanted for a Ranger bed I had to find one else where, so I checked out Craigslist. The ones I was finding either were saying you have to buy the whole truck, or were not even calling me back. A couple weeks ago I found one in northern N.J., & after exchanging a few e mails & him sending me many photos we agreed on $100.00 for the bed. I removed the bed off my Ranger & temp mounted the tail lights to the frame of the Ranger my wife & I drove the 2 hours from southern N.J. to northern N.J. to pick up the replacement bed. We removed the bed off a Ranger the owner was ready to scrap & installed it on my Ranger for the drive back south. The replacement bed had a rotted section of the floor all the way to the l/s front, the l/s of the front bed support, & the lower couple inches of the l/s of the front bed panel. The only good part of my old bed was the area that is rotted in the replacement bed, so I took some measurements & cut out of my old bed what I need to repair the replacement bed.
Today I cut out the section of the bed floor, the lower l/s section of the bed front panel, & the front bed support rail.
I had to fabricate a new front bed support rail from some leftover sheet metal I had laying around from another project, & a small patch for the l/s lower front corner.
Tomorrow I am going weld in the the lower front corner patch, & the front bed support rail.
