Just had a thought from my other thread. I have a 1996 4R70W 2WD trans from an expo, in super shape. I have a 1997 4R70W 4WD from a Mountaineer, was a good trans but has been outside for 2 years. I'm not afraid to tear a trans apart and I now need a 4WD trans. I heard the only difference is the tail shaft, any chance I could just pull them both apart and use the best parts from both and make a good 4wd trans?
