I was thinking about this too, thinking I winder if you got the correct pilot bearing, there were like varaiations of the pilot bearing and years ago I ran into this where the 5 speeds input shaft would not fit inside the new pilot, had to order a different one. That would really suck if a wrong part situation caused you to go through all of this.
ALWAYS check to see if the new pilot fits over the input shaft before you even take things out of the clutch box
