It is the 5.0L 302 V8. ;) Which means V8 swap obviously!! 
So it'll probably have the 3.73, which is fine. I plan on doing new bearings and seals in the new diff, along with new gear ratio. 
Honestly, dad has me hooked on the idea of 5.13 because it would have stupid torque, but I might settle for 4.56 or 4.88s, depending on pricing and time. I wanna put a TO4e turbo on the 5.0, it'll be less than 10psi, but I wanted a little extra oomph. Plus, what is better than a 5.0 swapped prerunner ranger?

A turboed 5.0 swapped ranger. hehehe

The Gear Ratio is based on your Tire Size, If you plan 7" lift, then 35" tire might work, AND 5.13s are not ou too the question.
I run 33" tires and 4.56 gear with a 3.0L and sometimes I wish I had 4.88s.  With a 5.0L you might not need as deep gearing but it isn't out of the question.
Maybe find someone with 5.13 gears and the tire size you are thinking on and test drive.

The Explorer sounds good, I have only driven an '88 Ranger STX, short bed, std cab, that I installed a 5.0L and all I can say is the sis the way Ford should have built them.

I don't see a 5.0L conversion coming soon for my 2003 but I owuld love it.   I would still to 5-6" lift with 33" or max 35" tires and I would try out the 4.56 with the 5.0L first.

Ltr !

Supercharger: takes power from the crank, is directly on the engine with a belt type system, and has no waste gate.

Turbocharger: takes power from exhaust gases, is not directly on the engine, which will cause "lag" as it is called.
While both do the same thing, forcing air into the engine at a progressive and higher pressure, which in turn makes more HP because more air = more ponies.
A turbo will spin at 15k RPM a minute, while a supercharger will spin at 50k a minute!
Turbos get very hot, as the waste gate is a smog altering item on the turbo, so they need to be well-insulated.
Superchargers are also easier to maintain (supposedly) compared to a turbo.
