Its a feature found in many newer cars as a way to roll up the windows, turn off wipers, etc.. as a latching relay sorta after parking and turning off the Ignition. This as a function wasn't really available by the time the Ranger platform had the rug pulled from under it here in the US.

When I had other purposes of conveniences in vehicles past, this was a great mod. But i find turning off things more prevalent and in need. For example I have a switch that kills the brake lights from being seen all while allowing the running lights to be seen if I turn them on.

I also have another switch setup nearly complete in thoughts that mimics the old SAAB 93 "stealth mode" which kills ALL dash/interior console lights except for the speedometer light.. Sometimes you just want to blend in and not be seen, then the fancy stuff seems have less luster.
