Radiator sprung a leak! Plastic split on the passenger outside of the radiator half way down. VERTICALLY. Ribs in plastic are horizontal.
I have NEVER seen a split in this particular spot on any radiator in any car. Nothing can hit it. It did not freeze. What happened?
Sounds like a design / manufacturing issue - why put ribs horizontally if not to strengthen in the vertical plane?
But I have never been a fan of plastic in cars - always eventually splits or degrades - thermostat housing on my Rover is plastic and that gave up and started leaking - had to remove plastic engine cover, plastic airbox and plastic inlet manifolds to get at it ....
