I just bought a Dorman shifter repair kit too for our 1993 2.3 5-Speed. It's been beaten pretty good over the years and now has either 300,000-400,000 miles on the original drivetrain. It only has the 5 digit odometer, had it since it was new, so lost count. The engine, transmission, or rear end doesn't leak any oil at all. Just did finally replace the original coil packs. I cleaned them off and couldn't believe we've never had them changed. My 98 2.5 automatic has already gone through an engine, couple transmissions, rebuilt rear end several times, and everything still leaks. Anyhow the 5-speed shifter on this 93 is really bad. I was watching the videos on youtube but of all the videos I watched no one seemed to know where the rubber dust seal goes. Mine actually came with 2 dust seals and 2 bushings. I called Dorman and they said there should only be one. They weren't really sure where the dust seal goes either. They just referred me to the instructions that came with it which says in the last step to install the dust seal but doesn't show where it goes. The black/white photo illustrations are horrible too. Which way do the bushings go in, since they are usually all gone? How difficult is it to get those pins out? I want to be prepared because I'll have to have it in and out the same day because it's being used as a daily driver for awhile.
