Well, there are brands that allow you to interchange the lens, so shy of trying to get a visual on both a mounting surface and aligning the light (on) so you can get a best proper shine with minimal interference. You can swap out the outer lenses to 'spot' and get a better effect and absolutely mitigate the depth of the honeycomb grills. Some other grills like my 93' may require a bit more creativeness along with the choices of lights themselves; myself, I prefer the SRS series over the double lightbars to be honest. Thankfully most even the lesser expensive brands allow their brackets to rotate the full 360° and you could mount with the fixture hanging securely from the top, the back or possibly from a lower position in the grill. In either vertical mount, creativity, longer bolts, and some washers would adjust height.
