Finding a "new" bed is generally a much easier solution in this case. My 2001 had the same problem. The drivers side front mount was toast. By the time I cut everything back to good metal to fabricate and weld in a new mount, it would have been a TON of work.

I found myself another bed that was in a little better shape for $200

Craigslist, u-pull-it, pull-a-part, pick-a-part, and a local search for salvage yards are all good options here.
